Bad BBQ

Last night, for dinner, we picked up something we haven't had in a long time - Bar-B-Cutie. Previously one of my favorite places to eat, it was incredibly dissapointing. The meat was so burnt that no matter how much sauce you put on it, all you could taste was burnt meat. I even suspect that they purposely gave us the burnt meat because we were at the drive-thru, which makes us unlikely to return it (they originally told us they were out of briscuit, and then came back and said they had some...). I thought about taking it back (it's just down the road from our house), but decided not to bother.

Normally, I would assume that one bad experience is an exception, and give the place another chance. But in this case, the sad part (for them) is that with all the good BBQ we have in Nashville (Famous Daves, Judge Bean's, Smokey Bones, Whitt's, Nelly's, Tex's, Hog Heaven... just to name a few), I will probably not miss it if I never go back to Bar-B-Cutie.

I suppose I should probably call the manager or write a letter or something. After all, if I was running a business, and someone had done something to cause a previously happy customer to decide not to return, I would certainly want to know about it. But it's hard to make the case that it's worth my time, you know? I mean, I already gave that establishment my hard-earned money in exchange for a nearly worthless product, why should I also spend my very valuable time?

"...do to others what you would have them do to you..." Matt 7:12

Ok, alright. I'll do it.

For anyone curious, I did send an e-mail to the Bar-B-Cutie corporate office, explaining my experience. The Vice President responded with an appology and a request that I allow them to try to re-gain my business by sending me a gift certificate. I'm a little torn, because my e-mail was not intended to solicit some sort of repayment (and I directly stated so), but I guess I will let them send it and I will give it another try.
