Hurricane Frances

Well, they said I must be crazy. "They" being my co-workers, when I told them yesterday we were flying to Florida for the weekend. With 2.5 million people evacuating, why in the world would we be going towards the storm?

Well, it's not exactly like we are staying in West Palm Beach. We're in Lakeland, where my parents live, which is right in the center of the state, about halfway between Tampa and Orlando. We're down here for five days, about two of which will be spent inside due to the storm. The current path has the center of it hitting Lakeland sometime on Sunday morning, and by that time, it should be downgraded to a category 1 hurricane.

I'm sure it will be an interesting experience. It's been several years since I sat through a hurricane, and Mary has never been through one. My parents' house is solid, though, so I'm not worried about damage or injury.

I'll post updates here (provided there is power) as the storm unfolds. It's time for lunch, so I'm gonna run for now.
