Looks like I'm going to be making a trip to Boston in a couple of weeks. I'll only be there for 2 days of training, but it will be the first time I have been that far east. I've been in New York a couple of times before, but never to any of the New England states to the east of it.
There's not a real easy way to get from Nashville to Boston. Direct flights are very limited and expensive, and no matter which way you go, it's about a 6 hour trip once you include airport time and layovers. Yuck. At least I recently got some new batteries for my laptop, so it will run longer (almost 7 hours on one charge now). I'll probably need to spend some of the time working on my Sunday School lesson for that week, since I'll be going pretty much non-stop from Tuesday until Saturday night.
About two weeks after that, I'll be flying to Dallas for the Business Objects 2004 International User Conference at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, where I'll be giving a presentation about GUI (Graphical User Interface) design. It will be the fourth time I have been asked to present at this conference, but only the third time I have done it. Last year, I declined to go because Owen had just been born, and I didn't want to leave town for a week so soon after his arrival.
Speaking of which, yesterday was Owen's birthday. We didn't really do much for him (we're having a party on Saturday), but last night at church Mary's sister gave him a hat from Old Navy. It's one of those Gilligan-style floppy round hats. At first, he complained a little about wearing it, but then I took it off and put it on my head and amused him for a minute, and after that, he wore it all night. He even slept in it.
