After spending 3 days at Sun-N-Fun, we headed to North Florida for our annual Family Reunion. There wasn't really anything significantly different about this year, but it was fun as always and great to see many of the people that we only see at our annual family gathering.
The trip was much shorter since we were driving up from Lakeland and not down from Nashville. My parents and my brother Keith (and his fiance "Aunt Juda") were with us in a caravan of cars. My other brother, Kevin, could not go up there with us on Friday but he drove up early Saturday morning.
The pictures here are of some of my cousins, second cousins, and Owen's third cousin, all playing on the playground right behind the houses where we stayed. Owen had a blast with them all, and being a year older, he was much more able to participate in the fun and games.
Having just come from the airshow, I was of course showing some of the photos I had taken there, and I got to hear some stories from my great uncle, who flew in WWII. As I scrolled through the photos on my laptop, he would tell me about the different planes and which ones he flew in, which ones he rode in, which ones had certain strengths or weaknesses, etc. It was really interesting for both of us, I think. I bet he'd like to see the airshow sometime if he could stand being out in the sun that long.
We didn't end up going canoeing this year, mainly because the weather was threatening most of the weekend. It didn't really rain very much, but always looked like it could. We did take some walks down part of the nature trail and along the river, and that was pretty nice.
Come to find out, there were some severe tornados in the Nashville area that same weekend. Fortunately, there was no damage to our house or property, but we know several people in our church who lost homes and / or businesses. Please keep them in your prayers.
The reunion went by far too quickly this year. Before we knew it, we were eating lunch at the Dixie Grill and then saying goodbyes before heading north. The drive home was long and tiring, but we were glad to get back when we finally did. I was so tired when I had to go to work the next morning...
