I have so enjoyed my Holiday. I feel so good knowing how good God is and that all I love and hold dear is held even dearer by my Heavenly Father. I am feeling stronger each day and things are beginning to return to normal around the house.
Yesterday we took the tree to a recycling spot at a park here in town. It sort of bothered me because each park had a sign that said, "Holiday Tree Recycling". The Politically Correct minority has so influenced us that we can't even call something we are throwing away a "Christmas" tree. So...I lit the whole pile of trees on fire and drove away.
Not really.
Dad was here from Wednesday evening until this morning. He stayed at Becky's so we didn't get to spend a lot of time with him, but we did take him to the Lane Motor Museum on Friday as well as a few other stops including lunch at Calypso Cafe while we were out. Last night we went up to Bobby and Becky's and had dinner with everybody. Dad left early this morning and should be home and about ready for bed by now.
Kris' family left on Friday morning. They were up and ready to head out the door before 7:00. They were headed to Tallahassee for a couple days and got there in good time and in good shape that afternoon. I would assume they are home by now as well and enjoying being in their own beds tonight.
Big thank you to Kris' mom and dad for taking care of us. As I was not supposed to do too much around the house or pick up Owen, they stepped up and cooked and cleaned a lot. I'm forever grateful.
Oh...Friday night we went to Two Rivers Baptist Church where our friends were putting on a youth conference and New Year's Concert. We didn't stay for the concert since we had a little baby to put to bed, but it was so nice seeing so many familiar faces from the past. It's good to make new friends, but it is so sweet to feel the confident embrace of those people who you bonded with so long ago and still connect with today despite the separation of time distance. God makes good friendships.
Yesterday, Owen let us sleep until almost 7:00 and we were able to get a lot done. Kris cleaned out the garage with a little help from me. My main job was to keep him from throwing away anything I actually wanted. I took all the decorations off the tree and it's almost all put away. I already told you we burned the trees, I mean recycled our tree, and let's see, I guess that's about it on Yesterday.
Today we went to church and enjoyed a good catch up session in Sunday school and a very good worship service. We watched the Titan's beat Detroit and cleaned the kitchen up before visiting some friends whose son is in the hospital. It's almost bed-time now and I'm tired.
It's going to be a good year.
P.S. The friends whose son is in the hospital are the Jernigan's. Peirce is having some trouble with his blood sugar. He will be fine but they need to figure out why it dropped suddenly this morning and how to make sure it doesn't happen again. Pray for them.
