Limerick Friday

A Tennessee Christmas is pleasing
It's cold, but we rarely are freezing
But the months that come after
chill the ring from our laughter
and leave us all sniffling and sneezing

It's COLD.

All the county schools are closed, even a lot of the private schools are closed. However, Owen's school is still open and we will not shy away from the single digit temperatures and frost biting wind chill. We will go to school today.

I'm just so thankful I have a garage. I think I may still warm the van up a few minutes this morning though. It's really cold.

Now...I have to get these boys out of their warm blankets and into some breakfast.

Tisra FadelyYeah- what's up with the cancelled schools?! I don't get it.

I am going to be sooooo ready for our trip in March to CA. In cat, I need a good thawing out RIGHT NOW. Most years I like winter. Lately, though, I feel like a wimp. :-(

AmyI was laughing at the thought that it's just too cold to go to school. I like it that TN people are wimps like that. It gives me an extra day with Chloe.

And I'm hating the cold weather. It's been cold since October with just one snow fall. I took it much better when we first moved here. I expected it. But now I just want to thaw out. Christmas in FL was great but I want to go again.

ChristyYuck. Curl up by the fire, will ya? And breakfast-in-blankets sounds pretty nice...

CherylI guess it's good I like the cold because it sure is! This morning when I drove into work, the bank next door said it was -15 F. That didn't include wind chill. You may think I'm not right, but I'm enjoying it a little bit. It takes the furnace a little while to keep up, but I still like it. What's wrong with an excuse for curling up with a warm cup of tea and a good book or movie?

MaryTisra - I keep hearing that bus transportation is the real issue. Breakdowns, insufficient winter clothing for bus stops etc. I waited for many a bus in colder weather than this, but I was among the prepared Northern folk. So...I guess I get it.

Amy - I thought of you yesterday morning. The fact that you didn't have to get Chloe up for school was probably a wonderful thing for both of you.

Christy - I would love to let them have breakfast in blankets, if I could keep the blankets clean. I'm so NOT a patient server. Maybe I should have though...one morning of washing blankets wouldn't have been that bad.

Cheryl - Yes, it's a little wacky, but I'm a little wacky too and I did sit near the fire with some hot tea and a little sewing and enjoyed the little bit of chill that still found it's way to my fingertips because I knew it couldn't find the rest of me.
