The Adventure Continues

I did manage to accomplish a small project yesterday. I posted it on my Girls In Stitches site and I'm quite pleased. The only missing component on this wall hanging organizer is a way to hang it. I am thinking I can just stitch little loops on the back at the top corners. I thought about grommets but I just felt it might look a little too industrial. Once again, suggestions are appreciated. You guys always have such good ideas. I only hope you can stomach the previous paragraphs in order to read this one. Maybe I should cut and paste and put it at the beginning.

After our ER visit last week, things continued to improve with Aron and we are close to 100%. The doctor told us it would take a while for the diarrhea to clear up, and it has but he is acting completely normal otherwise.

Last night I had gone to church to direct a sketch I wrote for the Women's Spring Seminar at church. Kris put the boys to bed while I was gone and everything had gone smoothly. However at just about 10:00 the door to the boys room creaked open and Ivan came out in just a shirt. He hollered for me to please come and wipe him. I ran upstairs thinking how glad I was that he had gotten up to go potty and how wonderful that he's really gotten to this point where I don't even remind him to go anymore, when the smell from the bathroom hit me like a ton of bricks. "OH NO!" I thought. Sure enough Ivan had diarrhea and had even taken off his slightly unprepared underwear and had procured a new pair for after clean-up. He really had handled it well considering the situation and I didn't have much to clean up in that area. Once I had things almost taken care of I turned to get some Clorox wipes out of the closet and noticed a nasty puddle in the sink. I turned to Ivan and said, "what's that?"

He announced casually that he had had to throw up too. It must have all happened at right about the same time and he had to decide quickly where to let go of his messes. I couldn't believe that this little guy, who was looking at me without a glimmer of being upset by any of it, had gone through all of this trauma without a whimper and only a request to be wiped at the end of it. I noticed his cheeks were extra rosy and he felt hot so I finished my toilet clean up, got him some clean clothes that included a pull-up in case he couldn't make it to the potty in time and we prayed together as he lay in his bed. I went back later with gloves and tools to clean up the sink. I think as long as there are children in a home, garbage disposals should be installed in all drains.

Ivan is acting fine this morning other than sleeping very late. Aron has been blow-out free for two days and I think he is through with this drama. On the way to school Owen said he had to spill the graham crackers but it was a false alarm. Maybe it was sympathy nausea. I certainly can hope.

I'm feeling a little drained by all of this. It's more emotional than physical though and I think with a little bit of calm and all this beautiful sunshine I'll be set right very, very soon.

Holy Cow! You've had a rough week or so. May all the bugs be gone from your boys, and your home!

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry. I get exhausted emotionally too when just one of my girls has a stomach bug for a day. I can't imagine dealing with it for so long. I pray they get better soon.

The bits and pieces of my days all stitched together, in hopes of creating something useful from moments that may have otherwise been thrown away. I'm a girl who blushes when you call her a woman, a wife who adores the man God picked just for her, a mom who can't believe God has given her this honor, a friend who strives to return the enjoyment she gets from those around her and a darn good dreamer.
