Today

Despite yesterday's selfish ways, today has gone remarkably well. The boys and I went to the library earlier and even though we've had a trip out of the house I was still able to dig in and make progress in several areas of house work that are too boring to mention.

Owen is playing outside right now with his good friend Bradley. Bradley and his sisters and mom and dad moved in across the street (and over one) very recently. It did not take long for Owen and Bradley to strike up a particularly grand friendship. Owen calls him his last friend. I believe he is referring to the fact that Bradley is the last person he's met and become friends with in the past few weeks, but isn't it sweet to think of finding someone so fully meeting your desire for friendship that you don't care to make new friends? Of course the more common interpretation of that phrase being you've lost all your other friends isn't as encouraging so I try to correct him. Regardless of the label, Owen and Bradley are having a great summer together and I'm pleased that he has someone to share his time with. Ivan, on the other hand, is a bit sad that he doesn't have Owen to himself as often as he'd like. Ivan is very good at entertaining himself though and as he still takes naps every day I am pleased that Owen isn't under my nose begging for something fun to do while Ivan is sleeping.

As I look around me I am impressed with the amount of things to look forward to. Projects that haven't even been started are still fantastic ideas that change and grow as I imagine possibilities. Trips to take, visitors to host, and people to meet. There are things brewing right now that will be served up in the Fall. There are roads to walk down and peaceful waters to be led beside, and green pastures to lie down in. He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:6

Oh, a "last friend." I adore that. Much like Anne of Green Gables' "bosom friend," I would expect.

It's so cool when the kids get old enough to have friends like that. Very cute.

The bits and pieces of my days all stitched together, in hopes of creating something useful from moments that may have otherwise been thrown away. I'm a girl who blushes when you call her a woman, a wife who adores the man God picked just for her, a mom who can't believe God has given her this honor, a friend who strives to return the enjoyment she gets from those around her and a darn good dreamer.
