Enlightenment

Have you ever heard someone significantly younger than you talk about the stage of life they are in as if they have reached a secure and unmoving pinnacle of knowledge and experience?

I have.

I can only smile and think back to my own past claims of enlightenment, and wonder how I ever survived on what I knew then.

I am confident that I will read this in 10 years and find it completely ridiculous.

I have as well. Sadly, I've heard nearly the same words out of someone's mouth that I then remembered hearing out of my own when I was the same age. Like you said, I'm also sure that I'll look back 10 years from now and smile at where I was/am/have been.

Yes! I am only just now old enough to start noticing that phenomenon! I am in the middle somewhere, realizing that I have moved past the stages of enlightenment on which I hear younger women staking their claim but also aware that my current stances must seem sweet and silly to women who are older than I am. It's a little embarrassing - makes you a little less sure of securing pinnacles of any sort.

Been there. And, I've been the young know-it-all at some point, too.

The bits and pieces of my days all stitched together, in hopes of creating something useful from moments that may have otherwise been thrown away. I'm a girl who blushes when you call her a woman, a wife who adores the man God picked just for her, a mom who can't believe God has given her this honor, a friend who strives to return the enjoyment she gets from those around her and a darn good dreamer.
