Enlightenment

Have you ever heard someone significantly younger than you talk about the stage of life they are in as if they have reached a secure and unmoving pinnacle of knowledge and experience?

I have.

I can only smile and think back to my own past claims of enlightenment, and wonder how I ever survived on what I knew then.

I am confident that I will read this in 10 years and find it completely ridiculous.

CherylI have as well. Sadly, I've heard nearly the same words out of someone's mouth that I then remembered hearing out of my own when I was the same age. Like you said, I'm also sure that I'll look back 10 years from now and smile at where I was/am/have been.

ChristyYes! I am only just now old enough to start noticing that phenomenon! I am in the middle somewhere, realizing that I have moved past the stages of enlightenment on which I hear younger women staking their claim but also aware that my current stances must seem sweet and silly to women who are older than I am. It's a little embarrassing - makes you a little less sure of securing pinnacles of any sort.

TisraBeen there. And, I've been the young know-it-all at some point, too.
