A boy without much in his skull
Found his finances hushed in a lull
He tried cutting grass
But gave up at last
When his scissors had gotten too dull
When I was a kid my parents did not have a weed-eater. This limerick was inspired by, but not a true reflection of, that predicament. You have probably already gathered what we did. My siblings and I were each given a pair of scissors and sent out to cut the grass that grew too close to the trees and clothesline poles for the lawn mower to get. As a kid I thought this was horrible, as an adult I find it hilarious. Surely my parents were laughing as they sent us out to do this task.
"That should keep them busy for a while." I can almost hear them saying with sly grins on their faces.
"Can we afford a weed-eater this summer Harry?"
"Sure, but what fun would that be?"

I'll get these in the mail to you promptly Amy.
(No pictures this time. I just got back from an all day field trip to Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield with Owen's class. I'm tired, so you'll just have to trust that it was fair.)
