Limerick Friday AND Mary Mary Giveaway Winner Announced

A boy without much in his skull
Found his finances hushed in a lull
He tried cutting grass
But gave up at last
When his scissors had gotten too dull

When I was a kid my parents did not have a weed-eater. This limerick was inspired by, but not a true reflection of, that predicament. You have probably already gathered what we did. My siblings and I were each given a pair of scissors and sent out to cut the grass that grew too close to the trees and clothesline poles for the lawn mower to get. As a kid I thought this was horrible, as an adult I find it hilarious. Surely my parents were laughing as they sent us out to do this task.

"That should keep them busy for a while." I can almost hear them saying with sly grins on their faces.

"Can we afford a weed-eater this summer Harry?"

"Sure, but what fun would that be?"

And our winner of the Mary Mary Stationery "It's Limerick Friday" Card Pack is: Amy Button!!!

I'll get these in the mail to you promptly Amy.

(No pictures this time. I just got back from an all day field trip to Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield with Owen's class. I'm tired, so you'll just have to trust that it was fair.)

TisraAnd, um, now that I've been a parent for 10 years... I HAVE to believe that those were the quiet mutterings between your parents! Hee. Hee. (seriously considering this with our kids!)

Kristy JoI feel so naive. Growing up I just assumed we were normal and when we did get a weed eater I thought they had just been invented. Woe is me... I don't remember hating that job, but I do remember being bummed if I got the scissors for left handed persons.

AmyYay for me! I've actually been busy and am just now checking but it's a very nice surprise.

I'm laughing picturing all the Troyer kids out with scissors...that's too funny!
