Owen's school, like most schools I would imagine, always has something going on. It is all good stuff but I am unable to participate in all of it. I would be quite done in I'm afraid. This coming weekend is probably the biggest event of the school year. The annual shopping extravaganza will flood the gymnasium with vendors and shoppers, ready to take and make for Christmas. This event raises a lot of money for the school and that helps cut down on tuition costs, which makes me happy. Classes are asked to participate by creating themed baskets that are raffled or auctioned (I can't remember which) off at the event. Owen's class chose to create a "Rainy Day" basket filled with anything and everything one might choose to entertain oneself with on a rainy day.
Thursday, I went out shopping for something to include in the basket as our Kelso family contribution and as I had a coupon at Yankee Candle, I decided a candle would be just the ticket. I purchased two yummy smelling candles and though I was intending to use the "Be Thankful" candle, which smells of buttery and sweet pastries, I got a further inspiration on the way out of the parking lot and used the "Gingerbread" candle instead.
When I got home, after putting the boys to bed, I got busy with my little "rainy day" idea and here is what I came up with. There's nothing wrong with a little shameless self promotion in these things is there?
So...do any of you faithful readers think that this is a sell-able idea? I think it's cute, but is it marketable as it is. Should there be a place for a note somewhere? I think I could easily include that by creating a pocket where the recipe is. A place to tuck in a coordinating, handwritten note. Any thoughts?
